This review is from: Fantasy Board (Paperback)
I really like three other books by Kyle Stone, The Initiation of Pb500 / The Citadel series, and The Hidden Slave. All of them are fairly hardcore gay BDSM novels, with excellent plots and amazing writing. "Fantasy Board" is certainly less hardcore (only one of the few couples is into BDSM) and reads more like a collection of interconnected short erotic stories. Still, it was interesting to read, it's definitely not just "porn"/erotica, but also a well-written book, with some character development, and a deeper message.

"Fantasy Board" follows lives of a few gay men who chat on the online gay "fantasy board" (and most of the chats are of "hooking up" / sexual nature). Here are some of the characters:
1) a young man who's about to go to college and still lives with his parents, and his first sexual experiences / "coming out";
2) a man who's bravely discovering his submissive nature, and some interesting twists of events and BDSM scenes he experiences;
3) a blind man (he can still chat online with help of an electronic device, which can read the contents of the chats to him), and his friendships / experiences;
4) an older college professor who lives with his much younger, college student lover.

The lives of all these (and a few other) characters turn out to be related, in some surprising ways.

At the end of the book, the author included a few of his short (unrelated to each other) stories, which are presented as if they were included in "Fantasies" section of the said "fantasy" / chat board. I found those to be some of the best in this collection, though I was already familiar with one of them: the concluding story, "Cave", is the part (and one of the best parts, IMO) of the author's "Citadel" novel.

The drawback of the book to me is that I wish some of the stories were longer and told us more about the subsequent lives of the introduced characters. I grew to like some of the characters, and wanted to learn more about them. Seeing that the author included "Cave" as part of his novel "Citadel", it might have been his intention for some of the other stories / characters in this book as well. We will never know, as unfortunately, he's no longer with us.

The best part of this book for me is that I read it as a celebration of eroticism of male body, and of life overall, in all its variety, with all its ups and downs.
