Product Description

For the cook who's cooked it all--new and wonderful dishes based on the creatures that crawl in our yards at night, swim in our drainage ditches, and flap around in vacant houses. The Claytons give new meaning to the old idiom "cooking from your own backyard". 20 full-color photographs.

4.0 out of 5 stars An exquisitely photographed appitite inducing volume., July 7, 1999

This is truely a unique book. Surely Martha Stewart must have been channelling the spirit of Granny Clampett to produce these unusual delicacies. Had detailed recipes been included a full 5 stars would have been earned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine food pardody makes you wince & laugh at the same time., September 30, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Critter Cuisine (Hardcover)
We've all seen examples of fine food photography in recipe books, magazine articles and advertisements. Here is a book done by a couple of the experts in the field who poke fun at both themselves and at the rest of us who have come to expect photos of food to be mouth-watering and appealing on a very basic level. But wait until you see the mouse-kabobs with your own eyes! The images make you gape in bemused shock at these exquisitely-photographed "food" items -- that is until you notice that some of them resemble road kill! A wonderful parody on how we look at things in the modern world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yum, yum!, January 3, 2007

It is nice to see food photographers taking a poke at their own industry. In our "image is everything" society, it is particularly encouraging to see that there are some in the eye-candy trade daring enough to peel off the wrapper and let us see their technique applied to less savory subjects. Anyone for a batburger?
