The mix of functional and decorative items relies heavily on traditional fare such as turkeys, pilgrims, and cornucopias. Instructions are at times sketchy, requiring children to refer to poor-quality photographs of the finished projects for clarification. Free-hand drawing may challenge some children ("Draw and cut out a turkey shape") and missing details may create frustration for others.
