Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-K-- The introduction suggests that young children can be assisted in reading by watching for the pictures that pepper the short stories on each page. Each picture is followed by the word it represents, which saves guessing or searching in a glossary, but also ruins the fun. The 44 one-page stories, written and illustrated with watercolor cartoons by a variety of people, are like Dick and Jane: the effort to keep them simple makes them tedious. " 'I can't find my (picture) teddy bear,' said (picture) Rebekah one day after coming home from the (picture) park. 'Did you leave him by the (picture) swings?' asked (picture) Mother. 'No.' (picture) Rebekah shook her head. 'Not at the (picture) swings.' " Gimmick takes precedence over story, and the result is liable to bore beginning or prereaders and those who are trying to help them. --Carolyn Jenks, formerly at Oyster River Elementary School, Durham,

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute interactive book, October 31, 2007
My friends little one enjoyed this, as a beginning reader, he was happy to do a little reading and some looking at pictures. He was more interested in reading because this was an interactive puzzle just right for his age (5)!

2.0 out of 5 stars Improvement needed, October 10, 2007
I was disappointed in two areas. The first time I tried to order the book I didn't realize it was a paperback. When I did realize it - the same day I placed the order - it was too late to cancel it. When I finally found the hard cover book, I received it and found out it was a very small book. I do think something should have been mentioned that the book size was small. I already conveyed this message to the seller. J. Goulette
