Product Description
In the House of the Riddle Mother Clarissa Pinkola Estes

The Archetypal Power in Women’s Dreams - Every night of our lives, we experience between five and seven dreams, each reflecting our most intimate passions and conflicts. Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés compares each one to a riddle. Once solved, it can provide a surprising answer to an unresolved question buried within the psyche. On In the House of the Riddle Mother, Estés surveys the most common archetypal patterns women experience while dreaming. Based on 20 years of work, this audio seminar is a dense, poetic storehouse of information about the dream life of women. Information is divided into 17 instructive sections, each devoted to analyzing distinct dream motifs.

About the Author
Clarissa Pinkola Estes is an internationally recognized scholar, award-winning poet, diplomate senior Jungian psychoanalyst, and cantadora (keeper of the old stories) in the Latina tradition. Her doctorate is in intercultural studies and clinical psychology. She has taught and practiced privately for 26 years. With over two million copies in print, her New York Times bestseller Women Who Run With the Wolves has been hailed as a classic and the seminal work on the instinctual nature of women. Other books by Dr. Estés include The Gift of Story and The Faithful Gardener.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreams the language of the soul., March 13, 1999
By A Customer
I have long wondered what some of my dreams meant at times they are silly, frightening, and mysterious at other times profound. I had not been taught how to interpret their meaning. Dr. Estes has again deciphered the magic that lies within. Our dreams guides to where we are in soul development, she explains the method to unraveling the messages we receive nightly. I have read so many books on dreams and did not feel much enlightened at the end. So many books just give standard meaning descriptions some from so long ago they did not have the same meaning to me. In these two tapes so much is explained in a way so easy to understand that the work she did in this area is brilliant. I recommended them to anyone who desires to know thyself better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely to listen to, March 7, 2005
I particularly enjoy listening to Estes' voice as she reads her books. It brings a color and texture to the reading that shouldn't be missed.
The content is interesting and thought provoking. During one segment, the language is crude and a bit distracting. The switching back and forth from mythology, to fairy tales, to Jung is also a little hard to follow because in the end, it really comes down to "pick what you want to believe that is relevent to you at the time" which is basically what she recommends in the beginning. So, if you are looking for clear interpretation...you will find none.
I however am facinated to find that since I've started journaling my dreams...all of them include the images she incorporates into this reading. Which came first?
