5.0 out of 5 stars Learning about the Holy Spirit has never been more exciting!, May 13, 2000
By Misty Owens (Giessen, Germany) - See all my reviews
I am currently involved with a bible study group that is reading this book. At first, the other students and I were leery of the subject matter. Many people are confused by what the Holy Spirit is, how we receive it, and how it enables us. By doing this inductive bible study I have realized there is so much more to the Holy Spirit than speaking in tongues. Kay Arthur's approach is both unique and extraordinalrily effective. The book is more than a study of the Book of Acts but a comprehensive Bible study. She divides each week into 7 daily lessons, allowing you to do a small part of the study each day. Some days are more intense than others. Each lesson pulls various scriptures from all over the Bible. She then compares and contrasts the scriptures to the Book of Acts. The book also includes a color-coding technique to help you better reference your favorite Bible. This book is spiritually intense, but everyday you go away feeling like you have learned so much. Kay Arthur is able to clearly articulate her thoughts in a way that is enlightning and uplifting. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the Holy Spirit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Tool for Learning to Study the Bible, February 25, 2006
By Jennifer (Bartlesville, OK USA) - See all my reviews
I'm doing this book with a women's Bible study and really enjoying it. Kay Arthur raises a lot of interesting and important questions about the Holy Spirit, but she doesn't tell the answers - she guides you through the process of studying your Bible and learning the answers there. It takes a few hours of weekly prep time to complete the lessons, and it's well worth the time and effort. I appreciate her emphasis on basing our beliefs on truths straight from the Bible rather than on the interpretations of men.

1.0 out of 5 stars Formulas get in the way of revelation, April 20, 2006
By S. Mink (Leesburg, Virginia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Kay Arthur's inductive methods seriously hampered my spiritual growth. Her formulaic methods kept me from trusting what God was really saying to me through scriptural study - when I went to a Kay Arthur seminar on inductive study, I was actually asked to leave when I started to ask questions about what I understood passages to say. It was a serious blow to me, and it took a long time to trust my time in study with God again. I have since graduated from seminary with an emphasis on Biblical Interpretation and write well-received commentaries. I would highly caution against such a formulaic approach to study which does not allow the imput of the Holy Spirit in understanding.
