Hayes-Grieco, a nationally known lecturer on women's spirituality (The Kitchen Mystic and The Peaceful Heart, both Audio Reviews, LJ 4/1/98), makes extensive use of personal anecdotes in explaining her experience with intuition and spirituality in her own life, why she feels her life is indeed guided, and how others can reach this level of sureness and serenity. Her down-to-earth presentation covers developing and trusting one's intuition and women's spirituality and the role of women in the early church. Her view of God is a Divine Mother, a belief held by most early religions (which fact she documents) and to which, she feels, our society is returning, to its great benefit. She comes across as comfortable with her own spirituality, aware that some might find her "kooky," but encourages listeners to be true to themselves and their own intuitions despite possible raised eyebrows and even downright rejection. She offers meditations for self-knowledge and peace. In general, this is a solid three hours of friendly inspiration and feminine empowerment.
