Product Description

Here is a fresh, revolutionary approach to finding inner peace and expansive joy, presented by one of the greatest exponents of yoga and meditation alive today.

We have all experienced our subconscious minds–in our sleep, dreams, and through our unconscious thoughts and emotions. And, of course, we're all intimately familiar with the normal conscious state of awareness from which we go about our daily lives. But there is a third, less well-known state of awareness: the superconscious. The hidden mechanism at work behind intuition, spiritual and physical healing, successful problem solving, and finding deep, lasting joy, superconscious awareness is the missed link to living richer, more meaningful lives. Though many of us have experienced fleeting moments of raised consciousness and enlightenment, few know how to purposely enter such an exalted state.

Through meditation, chanting, affirmation, and prayer, J. Donald Walters teaches us how to reach this state successfully and regularly and how to maximize its beneficial effects. In Awaken to Superconsciousness, Walters shares his knowledge of the ancient yoga tradition, details how to attain inner peace, and provides inspiring meditative exercises. Awaken to Superconsciousness provides a comprehensive, easy-to-understand program to help us tap into our wellspring of creativity, unlock intuitive guidance, and hear the silent voice of our soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars We recommend this book to our customers, April 12, 2000
By George Beinhorn (California) - See all my reviews
I work at the sales desk of the leading metaphysical book store in the San Francisco area, where I'm continually asked to recommend beginning books on meditation. For myself, I unhesitatingly give "Awaken to Superconsciousness" my unreserved recommendation. For these reasons:

It's the least sectarian approach I've seen, thus it appeals to the widest section of readers. Unlike Tibetan, Zen, and Middle Eastern teachings, it isn't colored by centuries of priestly tradition. Yet it "goes back to the source"--and its very bedrock purity makes it "user-friendly" to Western sensibilities.

It's very practical, because it's based on how our bodies are made. Paramhansa Yogananda said, "At the inner end of the nervous system, the mind, interiorized, communes with the soul." This book teaches the art and science of patiently calming the breath and mind so that we can use our own nervous system to commune with the healing inner peace and joy. For my money, you won't find a better guide. (I've meditated for 30 years, and I learn something new from this book every time I open it.)

5.0 out of 5 stars More than a guide to meditation--a guide to life!, November 28, 2000
By A Customer
I've been meditating and studying yoga for many years and thought I knew a lot until I read this book. This book grows on you--it's so full of practical ways to use meditation to improve your life, that you begin to take it for granted. If you want to know how to live like a master amidst the swirling vortices of life's ups and downs, this is the book that has the answers.

5.0 out of 5 stars J. Donald Walters - Takes complex topics and makes them easy, May 1, 2000
By A Customer
I have read quite a few books by the author and find his writing remarkable. He is able to take very complex topics and make them very easy to understand. So many authors want their writing to be complex so that others will think of them as deep thinkers or something. Mr. Walters works hard in his writing to make topics clear and easy to understand.

You can tell that Mr. Walters writing is from his own experience on the spiritual path. To write this book, he is drawing from his own intutive understanding derived from 50 years of living a deeply spirutual life.
