Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 6-Up Henderson's second collection is well balanced and diverse, and young adults searching for an audition piece are sure to find something that suits them. The author is adept at examining both sides of a wide variety of situations. For example, "S Is for Special" explores what it's like to have a disabled sibling, while "Handicapable" is told from the point of view of a person with CP. "Johnny Reb" and "Billy Yank" relate opposite experiences of the Civil War. There are subjects slight and serious, contemporary and historical, so that the gamut of human emotions is represented. In addition to dramatic exercises, this volume could also be used in the context of debating or journal writing. A useful addition for both school and general collections. -Ronni Krasnow, New York Public Library

5.0 out of 5 stars A collection of sixty original monologues for teen actors, February 4, 2002
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
Heather Henderson's Flip Side II provides a collection of sixty original monologues for teen actors which focus on issues of identity and presentation. From humorous issues to historical figures and fantasy, these very different monologues provide a fine variety of topics and acting skills. Both are recommended picks.
