Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
Bauman, an assistant sports editor at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, has written an unauthorized and far too long biography of professional tennis player Andre Agassi. None of the immediate Agassi family would consent to be interviewed for this book, and Bauman's material is extensively based on newspaper excerpts, magazine articles, and other biographies. From these sources, he paints a portrait of a small, insecure boy forced by his father to strive for the one acceptable goal of the Agassi children?to grow up to be a world-class tennis champion. This obsession is the real story?not Agassi's clothes or temper or marriage to Brooke Shields. Enough juicy details are included to overcome the weak writing. Buy for demand.?J. Entertainment Weekly
Despite its provocative title, this drab unauthorized biography serves up painfully few revelations about the flashiest tennis star of our day.
