Since the popular first edition was published in 1989, the authors have continued to help teachers around the world understand the benefits of this approach. Katz and Chard discuss in great detail the philosophical, theoretical, and research bases of project work. The three typical phases of project work are presented and detailed suggestions for implementing each one are described. Using specific examples, this book clarifies and articulates the process and benefits of the project approach.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book really helped me!, June 26, 2008
By D. Nelson (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I really liked the information in this book. It really helped me understand the project approach, since I was very new to the concept. I have really gotten lots of positive "reviews" from both my preschoolers and their parents. I used many of the suggestions in a Science Camp format for only a few hours/few days. I couldn't go as in-depth, but I was able to have the children "connect" with the environment and learn so much. They were curious, excited and ready to learn more.
