Product Description
This classic Twelve Step book has sold more than one half-million copies to date. A caring adaptation of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous for anyone seeking a practical path to spiritual and emotional freedom. This compassionate, insightful book is written in the language of the heart, and is used by both lay people and professionals.

About the Author
Dr. Hirschfield was born in France and came to the United States with his family at the beginning of World War II. Jerry became a U.S. citizen in 1946, and subsequently entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned a B.S. degree in electronics engineering.

Jerry was employed in the aerospace industry for the next twenty years in engineering, management, and consulting positions. During that time, he obtained a Master of Engineering Management degree from the Engineering Executive Program at UCLA. As time passed, he became more interested in the human aspects of management and increasingly disenchanted with the military/industrial complex.

During the early seventies, Dr. Hirschfield went through a transitional, mid-life crisis out of which came a spiritual awakening, renewed energy, a change of career, and his first book,The Twelve Steps for Everyone ... who really wants them Jerry's new career--actually careers--became psychotherapy and writing. At age 47, he returned to school and earned an M.A. degree in Counseling, and later, a Ph.D. in Psychology.  His Marriage and Family Therapist license was granted in 1980.  Since then, he has maintained a private practice at his Sherman Oaks office.  Dr. Hirschfield;has been a speaker at professional conferences and a contributor to recovery magazines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive Change, February 22, 2000
By A Customer
I have to say that I have been around the 12 Step program for many years... both my parents had severe drinking problems... recovery was went through many times... but they never "worked" a program... as I watched their problems, felt the pain of their problems... and lived with the side effects of them... I never deeply examined what "I" could change. This book helped me see where "I" have to make changes... that the only person I can control is me... I reccommend this book as just a basic format for life!
