5.0 out of 5 stars want to hook a young reader?-find Fire Hunter, November 8, 1999
By A Customer
I am another reader who remembers "Fire Hunter" like it was the only book that ever counted in my youth. I read it in elementary school and have been looking for it since I had children of my own. What a great book to inspire a child's imagination! I know that I read all of the rest of Kjelgaard's books just because Fire Hunter was my first. I can't find it anywhere, but surely a book like this will be reprinted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fire-Hunter, May 8, 2004
This review is from: Fire-Hunter (Hardcover)
An extraordinary book. When I was a fourth grade teacher I read
it to my class, who loved it. It has a story telling quality and
is hard to put down when you start reading it. The story is
unique in that it shows the beauty of discovering new ways of
doing things -- inventing weapons to survive in an unforgiving
environment. A creative and curious child will love the story.
There's really nothing like it that I know of. Finally, the
concepts and vocabulary make it suited as a read aloud from fourth to sixth grade and as a good read for adults. Don't miss
out on an outstanding book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fire Hunter, August 11, 2000
By A Customer
As a youngster, "Fire Hunter" was my first glimpse of prehistory mankind. The author skillfully created characters I could understand and care about, and introduced me to an ancient society that I never knew existed. With care toward authenticity without overwhelming a young reader, the story was memorable enough for me to want to read it again as an adult. The publisher would not lose by reprinting the novel. There is a new generation caught up with dinosaurs ready for an introduction to humanity's beginnings. "Fire Hunter" is easily a young reader's equal to Jean Auel's adult novel "Clan of the Cave Bear."
