Editorial Reviews

Product Description

If you busted your chops programming such databases as dBASE, Paradox, or FoxPro, you're in for a pleasant surprise. If you've never programmed a database before, you may wonder what all the complaining was about. Microsoft Access is a big step forward from those earlier database programs, thanks to such features as SQL (Structured Query Language), OLE/DDE (Object Linking and Embedding/Dynamic Data Exchange), and Wizards that lead you step-by-step through many tasks. Access Programming For Dummies offers the fastest and most practical means of making the most of these and many other powerful Access features. Best-selling author Rob Krumm shows you how to do everything from building your own programs by using Access Basic and obtaining data by using SQL statements to customizing forms and reports by using expressions and macros. Best of all, Krumm shares with you his own foolproof methods for testing code, so your users can work with a bug-free database.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the few Dummies books I liked., February 2, 1999
By Barry Gilbert (Boulder, CO United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was a rank beginner in writing code when I got this book. The other Access books I looked at either had one small chapter on writing code (Access Basic) or assumed that I was an experienced programmer. This book helped jump start my understanding of how Access Basic works, how to navigate through the code windows and debugging facilities. It also gets into writing macros more effectively. A great jumping-off point for understanding programming in Access.
