Drs. Owens and Mindell, two of the country’s foremost experts in pediatric sleep issues, offer simple, proven strategies and sage advice for solving the sleep problems that many kids and teenagers face, including:

• Not getting enough sleep • Difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep • Sleepwalking and sleep terrors • Nighttime fears and nightmares • Sleep apnea and other breathing problems that occur during sleep • Issues related to ADHD and other medical and emotional problems • Disorders such as insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and much more

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book, November 17, 2005
By A reader (Philadelphia) - See all my reviews
This book was recommended to me by our pediatrician as our 9-year-old daughter has been having sleep problems. Within a week of implementing the suggestions in this book, our daughter is much better rested, going to bed much easier, and having fewer nightmares. I have now recommended this book to other parents in my daughter's class who have also been struggling with sleep problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic book, November 11, 2005
By reader (Connecticut) - See all my reviews
I have 3 children -- ages 15, 13, and 7. Not only did this book help solve my youngest one's sleep issues, it also helped me to understand my older children's sleep needs. I can't imagine any parent who wouldn't need this book at some point as an invaluable reference. I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but not for newborns, October 24, 2007
I bought this book to help me figure out how to solve the problems of my older child. I pulled it out again when I found out I was pregnant and it didn't have much advice on newborns and infants. But I'm sure it will come in handy when the little one grows up. If you want something more "proactive" instead of "reactive" try "Healthy sleep habits Happy child".
