Kouga-kun!, July 28, 2003
I've been waiting for this one! Vol. 14 introduces my favorite character in the series, Kouga! (Or Koga, as the Viz translators say.) Kouga first kidnaps Kagome because she can see Shikon shards... then he decides that he's in love with her! However, Kagome doesn't return his feelings, but does come to see him as a friend. Inuyasha, of course, is jealous, but will never admit it.This volume also has some great character development for Sesshoumaru. Up to this point, he's just been a very cold character... then he goes and saves the life of this little girl who helped him! Completely unexpected... and it shows there's more depth to the demon lord than we've previously seen. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is the reversed format. Why oh why didn't Viz switch to right-to-left format when they started making these smaller versions? It really bugs me. I mean, it makes everyone left-handed, for one! They even had to change some of the dialogue... Kagome says, "He's got shards in his *left* arm and both legs!" when referring to Kouga. Gah! Drives me nuts. But I still love this series! ^_^

Manga #9 reveiw by chibi_inu, February 6, 2003
Kagome is on her way home to complete a very important test, when a new adventure comes across the groups path. This is the night that Inu-Yasha is to turn human, and he plans to take care of this new foe before that happens. But, to Inu-Yasha's dismay, some terrible things happen to the group, all because of the "peach man". Terrible things such as, Inu-Yasha turns human and is almost killed by some blood-sucking thorns, and terribly injured by an encounter with the Peach Man's obesity. Miroku, Shippo, and Kagome are shrunk, but eventually free themselves, until the Peach Man steals Kagome and is about to eat her. With comedic encounters, and romantic progressions...Then, the group comes across Sango. A Demon Exterminator, who's family and village has just been destroyed. However, she falls into Naraku's web of Deceit, and he makes her think that the culprit who has ruined her life is Inu-Yasha. Of course, Sango intends on killing him now... I better stop now, or I'll give away the whole book. No fun reading if you can't have some surprises! This is another great "Inu-Yasha" manga number, from who else, but the unstoppable Rumiko Takahashi, author of other great titles such as, the popular Ranma 1/2. An excellant addition to the Inu-Yasha story, and as always... wonderfully told, and drawn. A must-have for Inu-Yasha fans.

more Inu Yasha fun, May 25, 2004
The more I read in this series, the more I love it. Takahashi does so well with character interactions that I'm not sure I'll ever get tired of it. In this book, Sessho-Maru, Inu Yasha's evil full-demon brother, is wounded but kept safe by a little girl. Also, Kagome gets kidnapped by a wolf-demon who wants to make her his mate and use her to find more shards of the Shikon Jewel. Okay, so I'm a romantic, but this part of the book just makes me sigh - Inu Yasha is just so cute when he tries to deal with the idea that Kagome might be falling for the Koga, the wolf-demon. It's probably posssible to jump into the series at this point, especially since there is a "the story thus far" section, as well as a character section that gives important information about many of the previously introduced characters involved in this book. However, you should really get around to reading some of the previous books, or you'll be missing out on a lot. For example, Sessho-Maru's treatment of the little girl won't be nearly as shocking unless you know what he was like in the previous books.
