Editorial Reviews

Review
What kinds of jobs allow employees to frequently travel long distances? This could have been reviewed under our 'business' shelf, but is mentioned here because any who relish travel will want to know about the jobs which make travel part of their routines. This isn't just a general guide: names, addresses and phone numbers of potential employers accompany job descriptions and requirements. -- Midwest Book Review --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description
Have you ever wondered what all those people passing through hotels, airports, and train stations do? This new edition of a popular work-travel bestseller (previously published as Jobs for People Who Love to Travel) explores exciting jobs and careers for anyone interested in putting more travel into their lives!

Stroll through any airport, visit a busy railway station, or survey the lobby of a major hotel and you’ll observe hundreds of people on their way to somewhere. Some are in the pursuit of pleasure; others are fulfilling family obligations, and still others operate their travel and hospitality centers. But the majority of people are engaged in work-related activities.

Many people have a passion for travel and would love to combine their work with interesting travel experiences. Jobs for Travel Lovers identifies numerous jobs that enable individuals to travel both at home and abroad. Dispelling 54 myths, exploring key motivations, and outlining effective job search strategies, it surveys hundreds of jobs in business, government, and education, including the travel and hospitality industry, nonprofit organizations, international organizations, education institutions, and consulting. Written for anyone interested in combining travel with earning a living, the book includes jobs involving:

airlines and cruise lines
international jobs
travel agencies and tour operators
internships and volunteering
hotels and resorts
military and merchant marine
teaching abroad
business in general
travel writing
short-term work experiences
Jobs for Travel Lovers provides invaluable tips and includes names, addresses, telephone/fax numbers, e-mails, and websites for contacting potential employers. An ideal guide for those who want to work the world before "settling down" and for those who want to put more travel into their careers and lives.

3.0 out of 5 stars Traditional Ideas, April 21, 2003
By A Customer
I waited a long time for this book - it was on back-order. And while it gave some good information about jobs I already knew existed, it didn't really give me any ideas for jobs I hadn't already considered.

So, if you want a traditional job involving travel, or to work in the travel industry, buy this book for more details and contact information. Don't buy it if, like me, you're looking for new ideas on how to make a living on the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than a book about travel jobs, April 9, 2004
By A Customer
For the reviewers who feel this book doesn't go into enough depth for travel jobs you have missed the point and unfortunately your career(s) will suffer from this. The book talks about travel jobs and gives websites etc. But more importantly it will help open your eyes to approaching your job search from the standpoint of doing what 'you' want to do - not what an employer puts down in a 3 sentence job description. This book is actually one of the best 'career guides' I have seen. Do yourself a favor and read between the lines here.

2.0 out of 5 stars pamphlet, August 4, 2007
By Howard D. Eitzen (Helena, Montana) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Authors talked for 282 pages but didn't say anything. This entire book could be reduced to an informative pamphlet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jobs For People Who Love To Travel
The book has good job clues, and hunting guides, but some of the," what employers are wanting in you," needs to be re-researched.
