5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect intersections are now simple!, May 28, 2004
By "marcella391" (Belmont, CA USA) - See all my reviews
I had never been a huge fan of paper piecing before. It seemed silly to cut "hunks" of fabric and sew them to paper, trim them up and then have to pin and fuss to get the segments to end up just right. The cutting was wasteful, the pins made lumps and the matching...aargh! All those problems are addressed with this new method of paper piecing. I teach quilting and have taught three classes now using this book. Students of all levels are able to successfully compete their projects. Be warned, however, that this book is available in two sizes depending upon the edition. For accurate templates and patterns be sure you are purchasing the 9" wide edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing New Technique, May 27, 2004
By Miriam Janove (Brooklyn, NY USA) - See all my reviews
Traditional paper-piecers and never-before paper-piecers alike would find this book easy to follow and fun! This new technique of folding and sewing the entirety of one block on ONE piece of paper is wonderful. All the points match and there's no pinning and therefore no bumps involved. The book has great pictures that illustrate all of the techniques, as well as sample blocks and quilts throughout so you can see what the finished product will look like. The contents has color photos of the blocks so that you don't need to flip through the whole book to find what you are looking for. The blocks in the book are both great old standards and refreshing new interpretations. It's so easy to photocopy the patterns onto paper and be ready to sew! I love the see-thru Vellum paper, too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Areas Lacking, June 1, 2004
By "northeast-mustang" (Londonderry, NH United States) - See all my reviews
While the idea of this technique is excellent, I found 2 very important areas that were lacking. First the "basic" instruction area is not clear in its construction directions and appears to be missing the section where the second fold over and stitching is to begin. Perhaps the author feels it is redundant, I feel it to be crucial for a beginning paper piecer to complete the project(s). Secondly, it is necessary after you pay the money for this book to go to the C.T. Publishing website or the author's website to get all the corrections to the book plus having to copy from your computer the necessary template and block corrections. Although the publisher says that this may only be for the first printing, it appears my copy printed in 2003 was not corrected. I would recommend this book for an intermediate or advanced paper piecer.
