Review

A fascinating inquiry into the bulk of human knowledge. Has to be one of the most intriguing books this year. -- Ghost! Magazine, Winter 2005

Product Description

2.0 out of 5 stars Exceedingly Limited, May 4, 2005
If your TOTALLY new to the concept of orb photography then this book is a decent place to start if you feel you MUST have a hard copy to reference. However, for everyone else I suggest you look elsewhere. Notice I said orb photography, not paranormal photography. To start with the author rambles at times from everything about Buddhism to Huna (Obviously the authors religious preference), and much of the photography information is outdated in this book. Anyone can go to a search engine and type in orbs or paranormal photography and get way more information than is in this book.

I was TOTALLY disappointed with the TOTAL LACK of paranormal pictures in this book. Then the few there are on pages CS1 - CS12 are pitiful at best. There are some grainy black and white pictures of her husband and pets once again the same looking orb around. I liken it to the horrific family slide shows my favorite aunt and uncle use to torment us with growing up. Also if your looking for any other form of paranormal photography other than orbs then I TOTALLY recommend skipping this book, even if your a beginner. Simply due to the fact it is nearly nonexistent in this book. What little there is rambles and is outdated.

I purchased the book hoping to get some insight on orb sizes, colors, ......... Almost all the orbs in this book look the same, and she briefly mentions the possibility of reasons for colors on pages 68 - 69 (Two paragraphs), but again there is so much more credible up to date information on the web.

The ending of this book was definitely one of the most bazaar I have ever witnessed. She concludes she believes orbs based on her Huna religion are thought forms. Unbelievable. She makes a brief reference to the possibility of orbs in the Bible which I already knew, but honestly that was the best part of the entire book. What about all the reference to orbs in ancient society before we had photography? What about all the orbs taken by photographers unaware of the orb phenomena? I have pictures that date back to the 1960s with orbs in them, we had no clue as to what they were.I am torn on rather to give this book 1 star or 2. I will give her 2 stars simply for her effort as I have stated previously in this book the information is exceedingly limited.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guide to capturing preternatural phenomena & events on film, March 9, 2005
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
How To Photograph The Paranormal is an advice guide to capturing preternatural phenomena and events on film. From learning to recognize and avoid reflections of TV screens or other light sources, to recognizing and finding the best times to hunt orbs, will-o'-the-wisps, and other unearthly lights, to filming apparitions and unknown biology and more, How To Photograph The Paranormal describes in plain terms what symptoms and markers to watch for, and what techniques to use. Black-and-white and an inset collection of color photographs enhance this easy-to-follow guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Getting a Camera Today!, February 5, 2005
By John Young (Arkansas, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
We thoroughly enjoyed this book! We haven't found any other book available in the market place like this one. Dr. Sweet covers a wide range of different subject areas. Each one is filled with personal and related experiences of herself and others that really communicates. We felt like we were experiencing the events as they happened. The value of having a comprehensive overview of this area in one book can't be overstated nor can her sensitivity and unbiased informative approach to this topic. If anyone is interested in getting involved in paranormal photography or wants to learn more about different areas this is a great place to start and a comprehensive reference guide.
