Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Like his other angling guidebook for the Pacific Northwest, Oregon Blue-Ribbon Fly Fishing, John Shewey's guide to Washington is filled with essential information for the fly angler. Shewey covers watersheds on both sides of the Cascades as well as the Olympic Peninsula, noting access points, effective patterns, and stream tactics. The emphasis is on steelhead, but the Yakima's wild rainbows receive their due, as do the many eastside lakes. Hatch charts and color plates of standard flies make this a particularly useful guide to the Evergreen State's diverse fisheries.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, December 28, 2000
By Byron G. Smith (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book has good, high level, summary information on the various rivers in Washington, and lots of pretty pictures, but almost no detail on where or how to fish any particular river. The pictures are nice but the book itself is almost useless if you are using it as your sole sorce of information to fish a new river with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource for Washington waters, May 21, 2000
By Sandy Lockleer (Cle Elum, Washington) - See all my reviews
Mr. Shewey's writing style makes this not only a great resource for fly fishing information, but a fun book to read. John's intimate knowlege of quality Washington waters really makes this a good book to have. Lots of good detail on where to go and what to use. Very nice photography.
