Editorial Reviews

Review

Plenty of books advise on handling grief; but few tell precisely how to work through the grief process. This provides a program of steps to take for copying with daily life and grief. The workbook approach encourages a journal recording of one’s process. Not recommended for libraries; but fine for individual pursuit. -- Midwest Book Review

3.0 out of 5 stars Nicely written, but small book, October 20, 1999

If you liked this book, also try "The Healing Journey Through Grief" by Phil Rich. This is a self help journaling book that will help you to understand, work through, and write about your bereavement. There are other books in the "Healing Journey" series too that are worth checking out. including books (all called "The Healing Journey" and all by Phil Rich and other co-authors) including a books on journaling for individuals (The Healing Journey) and one on journaling for couples("The Healing Journey for Couples") and others ("The Healing Journey Through...") divorce, menopause, job loss, retirement, and addiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Journey through Memories, February 2, 2009
This book came right on time for me. I "just happened" to have signed up for a Grief Counseling course during graduate school and within the second month of the course, my grandmother passed away. We watched her battle with Alzheimers for several years and it finally took it's toll. One of the assignments in this course was to complete this workbook; lucky me, I had a fresh loss to use and I thank God that He "just happened" to have put me right where I needed to be with exactly what I need!! I still have the workbook to this day, periodically looking through it. I recommend it to my students as they attempt to deal with loss because they have no clue what to do themselves.

If you truly need some assistance and feel like "I can do it myself; I don't need anyone's help," this is the perfect journal. It is self-paced, to be done privately, and you will be processing your grief in your own time in your own way, doing it YOUR WAY, BY YOURSELF!!
