"...this manual provides succinct and thorough treatment overviews and plans for some of the most frequently encountered disorders. The layout of each chapter, as well as the included sample treatment plans and patient forms, greatly facilitates the implementation of treatment within a busy practice. The content, balanced between theoretical and practical, provides sufficient understanding of the rationale underlying the approach while simultaneously allowing for rapid implementation of treatment. This manual will undoubtedly prove to be of immense value to both experienced and novice clinicians alike."--Clinical Psychology Review
"I was pleasantly surprised to find that although these authors are reiterating some familiar ideas, their approach is quite unique. This text provides exactly what it suggests--a reference for clinicians about methods and practical interventions for a number of psychological disorders including depression, panic disorder, GAD, social phobia, PTSD, specific phobia, and OCD....I think the real success of the book is in its organization; rather than describing techniques directly in the text, these are included in a number of charts and user-friendly tables for quick reference. Best of all, in my opinion, is the CD-ROM included at the back of the manual, which comprises the book's material in Adobe-Reader format. In fact, the CD also contains some additional material including, for example, a lengthy list of medications, their uses, and their side-effects. The CD also contains all of the helpful forms and handouts provided in the book (included short pamphlets on each disorder that provide basic information for the patient). I think this manual provides an excellent reference guide for any graduate student or therapist considering using CBT in a short-term treatment plan."--Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy
"The authors present, in a compact 300 pages or so, a variety of forms, outlines of treatment procedures, handouts for clients and their families and a solid review of research on state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral treatment of a wide range of anxiety and depressive conditions. Clearly written with case examples, the book presents empirically validated treatment protocols for short-term therapies. Pragmatic to the maximum....This book will be welcome in agencies and clinics where it will likely raise the standards for treatment. It should see widespread use in graduate and post graduate training programs. It will also serve psychologists well as a refresher course of systematic home training in brief cognitive-behavioral techniques. The experienced clinician will recognize that within these pages is a wealth of resources just waiting to be adapted to the private practice environment." --Announcer
