5.0 out of 5 stars THE ULTIMATE RUM MANIFESTO!, February 25, 2001
By John Moore (Munich, Germany) - See all my reviews
Edward Hamilton has done a great service to the entire rum drinking world with his "Complete Guide to Rum". Whether a professional in the spirits industry, a seasoned connoisseur of fine rums, or simply a person that enjoys re-living Caribbean cruises gone by, this is an outstanding resource that should not be missed. The author has gone to great lengths to maintain a sense of objectivity and there is no sense that big marketing dollars play any role whatsoever in his astute observations. Great attention is paid to both the rums and the unique cultures that produce them. Bravo Mr. Ed Hamilton!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bottoms Up, May 7, 2004
Most people think of rum as mixer with coke or in fruity tropical drinks like daiquiris. Edward Hamilton's The Complete Guide To Rum will open your eyes to the wonderful world of rum. Mr. Hamilton examines various types of rum and the countries of their origin. Anyone who has a passion from rum or is interested in fine alcohol should check out this guide.

4.0 out of 5 stars I am the reason the rums all gone, June 9, 2007
By Michael Carnell (Charleston, SC) - See all my reviews
This is a very good book, though now a bit dated, but an expert on rum who also runs the Ministry of Rum website. The only problem with this book is not what it contains, but that there are a lot more rums out there. I hope he publishes an updated version soon. The anecdotes about visiting the various factories and locations is wonderful. Really makes the book come alive.
