Editorial Reviews

Product Description
"Reading Luke" concentrates on the literary and theological distinctives of the third Gospel. Charles Talbert’s effective and insightful commentary enables its reader to see and feel the full force of the literary masterpiece that begins the Christian story in the birth of Jesus Christ and continues in the Acts of the Apostles. Reading Luke is an essential book for students and ministers studying Luke-Acts.

5.0 out of 5 stars I use this commentary, February 23, 2004
By A Customer
Talbert is a leading authority on Luke. He was concerned with intertextuality before it became fashionable. His comments use the literary form of the text to illuminate the text. He makes liberal use of the book of Acts as well as ancient Greek literature to interpret the third gospel. This commentary makes a great complement to a more traditional source critical commentary like Fitzmyer's.
