Anal Sex, Masturbation and Female Bisexuality! Really!, July 26, 2006
After elevating my oral skills considerably (over several months) - and finally achieving some level of proficiency with deep-throating (to the point that I can now accept my husband fully - while positioned either face-up or face-down) - I was ready to move on to something more adventurous!
As background, I had always promised my hubby that I would reward him with anal sex as a `thank you' after twenty years of marriage. And even though that date is still years off, neither of us, unfortunately, is getting any younger! I became further alarmed when I heard that normal rear entry requires a very FIRM erection (which this book confirmed) - so I thought it might be worthwhile to initiate my exploration of backdoor sex BEFORE my husband needed Viagra!
Like many women, I had numerous anxieties regarding anal sex (such as cleanliness, pain, the degree-of-difficulty, etc). But this book addressed all of them. And it became a very handy reference when things didn't go right (as happened several times).
As an introduction, there's an anatomy lesson of the anus and rectum - the latter possessing a greater number of twists and turns - as compared to the vagina which is relatively straight. And even though the author tries to reassure us that fecal matter isn't present in the rectum when not having a bowel movement, I still prepared myself with an enema (which the book thankfully also discusses in great detail).
Since the wetness isn't there naturally, finding the right lube (lubricant) is essential. But I found it quite humorous, once we got started - that my husband was reluctant to use his well-lubed digits to explore me (as a prelude) - while he harbored no such hesitation when it came to probing me with his real manliness!
Additionally, whereas I can easily guide him in during intercourse - it became necessary for him to use his own hand to stiffen himself for anal sex (just as the author, Tristan, had warned). The going was slow for him - due to my discomfort - so maintaining firmness was even more of a challenge. (Again, I was glad that I hadn't waited more years into the future to try this!)
It ultimately took us several attempts to be successful. Fortunately, my better-half wasn't easily dissuaded - especially since he had already waited at least a decade - just to reach the starting line! And as they say about making babies - practicing was great fun!
The book also highlighted - how many women might experience g-spot orgasms - due to this internal landmark's relatively close proximity to the rectum (but my own experiences weren't so neatly blessed).
I also won't spend a lot of time talking about HIS enjoyment of anal sex, except to say - that he confirmed that the FIT was much tighter - and that the overall experience for him was every bit as pleasurable as he imagined it would be! (Men are so darn lucky, aren't they?)
Our greatest discoveries as a couple, though, took place when we started getting into various postures. The book has a very good chapter on positions - which was a helpful guide once we had mastered the basics. I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of my favorite bodily geometries were compatible with anal sex.
The missionary position requires a bit more hip rotation upwards to gain access. Doggie-style - which is typically associated the most strongly with anal sex - became one of my husband's favorites, especially since the shorter entry distance afforded him a more satisfying degree of penetration.
Lying on our sides (in the spoons position) reduced the amount of intersection we both felt (just as the book had predicted). Being on top (facing him) afforded me more control - but since it lessened my need to communicate with him (to tell him when his presence became too painful) - I found it to be less enjoyable overall.
Ironically, my greatest personal discovery was made when we attempted the Reverse Cowgirl Position (me on top, facing away from him), which, I might add, is a posture we rarely use during regular intercourse - and one which I had always assumed was performed only in the movies for the easier view of the woman it affords.
While in this position, I found that I was actually free to lean back against him - as far as I wanted (which for him and his tool was also quite comfortable).
Resting against him freed my arms from having to prop myself up! And since his entry was further back - this also gave me more generous access to myself - for masturbation!
The secret I discovered while straddling him in this position (which the book only briefly mentions) was that anal sex made it easier for me to masturbate - and achieve satisfaction - during intercourse!
Expanding upon this discovery even further, this posture also affords a more convenient second entry by another male (or by a girl wearing a strap-on) - which is called `double-penetration' in porn - for which I had no interest.
Of greater calling (to my female bisexual side) - is the more enthralling potential for a girl to perform oral sex on me - while my husband enjoys me from the rear! Anal sex in this manner thus allows me to simultaneously combine two of my favorite fantasies/realities - receiving oral sex from a woman - and intercourse from a man!
Interestingly, my husband and I may not start out in this (reverse cowgirl) position for anal sex - but this is where I always try to end up - which allows him to guide us, of course, to simultaneous climaxes!
As an unexpected benefit, I found that anal sex also made me feel a bit sexier about myself. Since I no longer viewed my rear orifice as dirty - my husband's comments about my sexy butt are now much more appreciated - and much more meaningful!
I've even taken to wearing sexy string and thong panties (at least in the bedroom), which I had never done before - for the teasing views they offer of my rear (and rear opening). As a final aside, I'm no longer uncomfortable - when my hubby accidentally pokes around the wrong hole - when we're making love in bed.
In conclusion, anal sex can often times be difficult - and quite daunting - to pull off for the uninitiated. Tristan Taormino's Second Edition `Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women' definitely makes it easier and much more enjoyable. But please don't wait - until it's too late!

A great beginner guide and more!, February 22, 2004
This review is from: The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women (Paperback)
In 144 pages Ms. Taormino covers this subject completely in a very matter of fact and enthusiastic point of view. If you have never tried this kind of eroticism this is a great book to get. One of the reasons I liked this book was it was written by an enthusiast of anal eroticism and everything in the book she has a behind the scenes perspective that is very refreshing. Also, Ms. Taomino writes so casually, like a girlfriend giving you inside need to know information. The book is organized and concise from the Introduction to the Resource Guide in the back. No matter what your experience is with anal eroticism you can learn from this book. Each chapter gives you more insight and understanding on this taboo experience. I enjoyed the whole book. The Author does a great job dispelling the myths associated with this practice and delivering important information for making this experience pleasurable for the novice and experienced. There are 12 chapters excluding the introduction and the resource guide the book covers myths, anatomy, emotional and psychological aspects, tools of the trade, hygiene, heath aspects to the practice, and some of the funniest illustrations I've ever seen in a sex book. If you want to learn more about this practice this is a great book to get, it delivers the information in a relaxed, humorous, and matter a fact way. The book is a great guide for women and men wanting to expand their repertoire in the bedroom. girldiver:)

Comprehensive and complete, both sexy and informative., February 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women (Paperback)
My search began with a quest for information as to how to pursue the subject of anal sex safely and with enjoyment. Although my spirit was willing, my flesh was weak upon first experimentation. After reading Taormino's manual, I have a new comfort level, both physically and mentally. Now I know that I was attempting too much, too soon. I learned that, physiologically, the process must be very gradual in order to be accomplished successfully. Every question I had was completely covered, and I now proceed with confidence. Worth far more than it's price!
