Product Description

If you have never made a quilt, you'll find the guidance you need in this book. Start easy with simple squares, as in Checkerboard or Trip Around the World. Progress to squares combined with rectangles in Burgoyne Surrounded. Enjoy playing with colors in Courthouse Steps. You are never too young to learn to quilt. AUTHORBIO: Bonnie's mother taught her to sew as a child. She has been quilting since 1979, making her first quilt with blocks silk screened for an art class. Sharing her quilting knowledge, Bonnie conducts workshops for quilt groups and conferences across the country. She is a quilt judge, certified by NQA, and is qualified to judge master quilts. Her quilts, wallhangings, and clothing have been shown in galleries, museums, and quilt shows, winning numerous awards. REVIEW: Learn to quilt with this book, filled with step by step instructions, tips, hints, definitions, good diagrams, and a little humor. The author explains the supplies used by quilters and why certain tools work better than others. Techniques are often shown in a series of photographs which is the next best thing to being there. A series of simple projects will let you practice what you have read.

About the Author

Bonnie enjoys teaching others to quilt. Teaching has taken her to guilds and conferences across the United States, and to Austrailia, Turkey, and Japan. But, one of Bonnie's favorite teaching dates is with grade school-age children at the Quilt Camp for Kids, held each July at the Museum of the American Quilter's Society. Bonnie's articles have appeared in American Quilter and McCall's Quilting, and she has shared quilting techniques on Simply Quilts on HGTV. In addition to writing and teaching, Bonnie is involved in other facets of quilting. She is a certified quilt judge and judges at several conferences each year. Bonnie is a staff member of the American Quilter's Society where she serves as coordinator for the quilt shows produced by AQS. Bonnie lives in Paducah, Kentucky, with her husband, Wayne, and White Sox, the cat.
