The official U.S. Army account of Army performance in the Gulf War, Certain Victory was originally published by the Office of the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, in 1993. Brig. Gen. Scales, who headed the Army's Desert Storm Study Project, offers a highly readable and abundantly illustrated chronicle.

About the Author
A U.S. Army brigadier general at the time, Robert H. Scales, Jr., headed the Armys Desert Storm Study Group. It comprised eight officersmost veterans of the conflictdrawn from different combat specialties and backgrounds. The groups research involved thousands of official documents and hundreds of personal interviews with soldiers from the grade of private to general officer.
