Review

A title that long should be self-explanatory. It is. Weird book. Good book though. -- Kansas City Star

Baseball Fans will want to search out Baseballs Most Wanted . . . -- Abilene Reporter News, March 19, 2000

Its a fun book for trivia fans and probably a must for sports announcers." -- Orlando Sentinel

Product Description

Edd Roush was ejected from a game for falling asleep in the outfield. Dan Friend played left field while dressed in a bathrobe. Outfielder Len Koenecke was killed attempting history's first skyjacking. Pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich swapped not only their wives but their children, station wagons and pets.

Baseball's rich history is brimming with the weird, the bizarre, the hard to believe. Baseball's Most Wanted chronicles more than seven hundred of the most outlandish players, managers, and owners since the game began. Its seventy top-ten lists describe in humorous detail baseball's most inept players, strangest plays, worst practical jokes, most bizarre nicknames, stupidest trades, freakiest injuries, least known records, and much more. It even lists players who became murderers--and players who became politicians. Many of these anecdotes have been published here for the first time. BASEBALL'S MOST WANTED is a quirky, irreverant look at the rich history of America's national pastime.

I'm not a big baseball fan, but I found this book to be great fun anyway. Check out hte chapter on stupid things that players have said over the years--it will have you howling. Great fun for basbeall fans and trivia buffs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baseball's Most Wanted, December 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this as Christmas gift for my son. I have not read it, but think he will really like it. I got it because I saw a story about "Dummy Hoy" a great baseball of years ago, who once caught a ball off the back of a horse.
