This is a great book to introduce Bible stories to very young children. The print is large with only a few words on each page. The illustrations are very bright using mainly primary colors. Research has shown that beginning readers enjoy rhymes and my son is no exception. The stories hit the high points and cover the major events in the Bible. This is definitely a bedtime favorite that can lead to much more indepth discussions down the road!

I have purchased five copies of this book and three of the next level rhyme bible. We were given one when my son was two. He requested it every night for at least a year. The rhymes are clever and lighthearted while telling some of the fundamental stories of the Bible.

It is very difficult to find quality literature for children. It is even more difficult to find quality Christian literature. This book will be used to build our new children's program at church, and I'm happy with the purchase. This is at a toddlers level and has very nice pictures. This does not go through the whole Bible, but it does feature the resurrection of Christ, which is nice. If I were selecting this for teaching the Bible to my child, and it was the only one I planned to purchase I would pass this version up. However as a compliment piece I'm excited about using it.

Our church's ladies group gives these to all our newest members. It's rhyming, rhythmical verse and charming illustrations keep babies very interested in storytime. Makes a great keepsake, especially since early readers enjoy it also.

Do you have little children whom you’d like to introduce to God’s word?

A rhyming Bible created for young children, “The Rhyme Bible Storybook for Toddlers,” is a good choice for parents who would like to introduce to the word of God. It was written by Linda Sattgast and uses the illustrations of Laurence Cleyet-Merle.

The book contains ten popular stories from the Bible:

God Made Everything (the story of creation)
The Floating Zoo (Noah’s story)
Baby in a Boat (the story of Moses)
David and Goliath
Where Did Jonah Go?
Daniel Prays
Who Saw Jesus?
A Tasty Lunch (the miracle of the five loaves and two fish)
Jesus is Coming
Jesus is Alive

This is a board book, about an inch thick, with padded covers. The size is just right for toddlers and even though it is 40 pages thick, it weighs less than 1 pound.

The illustrations are colourful and the fonts are easy on the eyes (I’ve seen some children’s books that went over-the-top with their font-color combinations, it was an eyesore!). I noticed a few rhymes that sounded a bit off, nevertheless, my kids still love to hear me read this book to them.

I would recommend this book to parents who are looking for a way to introduce their children to the Word of God. This can also be a good gift to Christian kids.

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to make a positive review and all opinions are 100% mine.

I grew up listening to Bible stories as a child and therefore wanted to continue the tradition with my son. I purchased the board book so that it would last longer and withstand the teeny toddler hands. I am happy with the purchase and so is my son.

The habit of reading is one that should be started even when the child is still inside the mother's womb. The book of all books, the Bible is an excellent source of stories to share to your little ones. After realizing that our children know Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse more than they know Jesus, we decided to make it a personal mission to read Bible stories to our kids. But that doesn't always come easy. Because if you read stories straight from the Bible, sentence structure is meant for adult readers; not the type that toddlers would like. And...there are no pictures. We needed books of Bible stories written with rhyme words. Along came, The Rhyme Bible: Storybook for Little Ones.

If you've been following this blog and the book reviews we do, you know that we've been receiving Christian storybooks on the Bible. The Rhyme Bible: Storybook for Little Ones is the first one though that my kids actually picked up. I told them I'll read it to them since we only have one copy and I didn't want them fighting over it.

So what's with rhymes and children?

Rhymes helps children learn how to read.

That's one thing I learned from studying language and literacy education in graduate school and then applying these learnings to my two-year-old twins.

How is that so?

By using rhymes words such as "cat" and "mat", children are able to detect the word segment"at" which is common between the two words. Children become aware that these words have common sounds.
