Product Description
Around the world people are at last beginning to understand and embrace the idea of whole-system thinking. Whole-Scale Change Toolkit brings whole-systems thinking down to earth with practical, robust, and proven how-to methods to effect whole-system solutions. Offering a healthy and flexible alternative to traditional command-and-control solutions, the book describes a new way of engaging people in organizations to uncover more effective ways of achieving their common goalsthe Whole-Scale Change process. By shifting from the traditional approach of relying on outside expert diagnosis and problem solving to one that taps the creativity and wisdom of the people in the organization, solutions become systems-based and owned by the organization and its stakeholders.

A hands-on guide to the change process, Whole-Scale Change Toolkit details each step of the way for change agents and leaders both inside and outside organizations. The authors explain the conceptual base of the Whole-Scale change process, revealing some of the basic theories and underpinnings practitioners will want to understand as they engage in the practice of Whole-Scale change. They tell how to put together a planning team and a logistics team and detail what needs to be done before, during, and after the various events, including what materials are required for the activities and the roles of the members of the logistics team. They also describe each of the modules used in a three-day Whole-Scale eventits purpose, process, and materials requiredand offer proven tips for success.

Full of examples of actual designs that have been implemented by Dannemiller Tyson Associates with their clients, Whole-Scale Change Toolkit describes a wealth of Whole-Scale interventions initiated across a wide variety of settings, including government, nonprofit, and private sector organizations representing large and small group meetings, some done in two or three days and some done over months or years.

Throughout the book, the authors stress that it is not enough to know the tricks of the trade. They show that it is of vital importance to understand the real purposes to be realized by the magicthe empowerment of individuals. Ultimately, Whole-Scale Change Toolkit will give people the power to create organizations of their own choosing.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Resource!, November 24, 2000
By John F. Trenkle (Farmington Hills, MI United States) - See all my reviews
Occasionally a book comes along written in a way that is really useful. This is one of them. Complete, fully sharing the technology of change in organizations, the experienced practitioner - as well as the distressed CEO or executive - can find concrete actions to take to bring about a new release of creativity and energy with people. It helps frame the mind-set of commitment and passion that make such efforts work. Not for the faint-hearted, these ideas will require courage and commitment, a trust in people and a willingness to change one's self as well as giving permission for change in others. This is a real "How-To" book, to support and bring about visionary changes such as those described in "Whole-Scale Change; Unleashing the Magic in Organizations"

5.0 out of 5 stars Tools for Leading Change and Earning Real Results, September 25, 2006
"Whole Scale Change: Unleashing the Magic in Organizations" and "Whole Scale Change Toolkit" introduce straightforward, systematic, and applicable approaches to successfully achieving effective change in human organizations. While most people acknowledge that changes are necessary and also recognize that changes are often resisted, based on the low success rate of effective change, few people appear to understand the dynamics of achieving progressive change. In the context of human organizations as functioning systems, Dannemiller Tyson Associates: define the dynamics of organization al change, acknowledge to forces for and against change, recommend constitutes whose collaboration and support must be earned, and describe practical processes for planning, executing, and institutionalizing organizational changes. To earn the reader's confidence, the authors use real world examples that demonstrate how "whole scale change" has worked in everyday organizations.
I highly recommended "Whole Scale Change: Unleashing the Magic in Organizations" and "Whole Scale Change Toolkit" for everyone working to achieve change in their organizations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Step by step script to bring Whole-Scale in practice, May 8, 2001
By Patrick Merlevede (Lembeke, Vlaanderen (Belgium, Europe)) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is the complement to "Whole-Scale Change: Unleashing the Magic in Organizations". It won't be of much use without the other volume, since it describes in small detail (by the hour) how to run a whole-scale workshop, the preparatory sessions, etc. However, if you want to bring it in practice, than you HAVE to buy this book. I'm amazed that consultants are giving away such a treasure chest of information: if you have "what it takes", you can really *do* this without needing their help (of course, some emotional intelligence, as explained in "7 Steps to Emotional Intelligence", will be of help.)
