Editorial Reviews

Product Description
As a single, you know all about the "marriage penalty"--and it has nothing to do with taxes. Well-meaning but misguided advice, feeling left out, the nagging questions and doubt, make it seem like there's a penalty for not being married.

Being single--especially as a Christian--brings with it a whole spectrum of unique challenges. It can be nearly impossible to enjoy the good parts of being single when there are so many explicit and implicit pressures to marry and raise a family.

About the Author
Leigh McLeroy is the coauthor of seven books including Romancing the Home and Everywhere I Go. A graduate of Texas A&M, Leigh worked as an on-camera news reporter before venturing into advertising and marketing. She speaks to groups across the country and has led many Sunday school and home Bible studies for singles. A self-described, "not-yet-married but still quite hopeful" person, Leigh makes her home in Houston, Texas.

5.0 out of 5 stars At turns funny and poignant, always refreshing, March 7, 2004
By A Customer
This is an engaging, honest book about the single life that is really fun to read. Leigh McLeroy takes the reader on a comprehensive tour of questions, incidents, and milestones that singles experience, and she guides with a blend of humility, confidence and spiritual insight. I really enjoyed reading this book and I've already gone back to it a number of times to be better acquainted with her mature reflections. This is good stuff; I recommend it highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Things First: Setting our Priorities High, February 22, 2004
By ALAN W. GARRISON (HOUSTON, TEXAS USA) - See all my reviews
Leigh McLeroy's latest literary offering, Moments for Singles, is fresh, transparent, real, and full of wisdom for all persons regardless of their relational status. The glue that holds it all together is the simple idea of first things first, and then eveything else will fall into place. It is written from a traditional Christian point of view and amplifies the love of Christ for all of us, in spite of all our wrinkles. Ms. McLeroy stresses that Christ's love will only be comprehended through a living intimacy with Him, and is necessary for us to love others properly. Pursue Him above all else.

5.0 out of 5 stars I USED to hate self help (self pity) books for singles!, February 26, 2004
By Anne Mabry (NY, NY United States) - See all my reviews
What a surprise to read a devotional book for singles that doesn't patronize, marginalize or wallow in self pity! To the contrary, these beautifully written devotional thoughts look unflinchingly at the whole of life as a single adult and simply hold us accountable to be the person God created us to be! I love that the author has obviously lived a full and rewarding life as a single adult. Because of that life experience, the voice of the book assumes that I, the reader, might actually have a rewarding life as well and be older than 22! What a novel idea!
