On the other hand, the extent of creative fillips is only possible through the perspective of trained designers, like this author.^B Naturally, the fundamentals--mat types and how-tos, measuring, cutting, mounting, among others--are covered in some detail, complete with photographs and step-by-step illustrations. The star attraction? Twenty-two crafty projects featuring a variety of techniques, from faux gilded to Indian quill frames. Innovation, however, is somewhat marred by certain omissions; certain methods such as soldering and glazing are specified but not taught.
