Review
"Man o' War wins again! The dramatic brilliance of the horse of the Century comes alive in the spell-binding words of the gifted Ed Bowen." -- Joe Hirsch, executive columnist, Daily Racing Form

Product Description
The life and times of Man o' War, whose legend continues to grow more than a half a century after his death, are chronicled in this exhaustive biography. Man o' War was bred in Kentucky and quickly became a sports hero through such amazing feats as winning the Belmont Stakes by more than 20 lengths and the Lawrence Realization by 100 lengths. He won an astounding 20 of 21 career races and his offspring continue to influence the Throughbred breed today.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Horse of the Century!, May 18, 2000
By A Customer
In this first biography of Man o' War in 50 years, Ed Bowen tells the story of "Big Red" like never before. I learned all kinds of stuff that I, even here in horse country, never knew about this great horse. This book is the first in a new series of racehorse biographies that looks pretty exciting - There's a Web site that goes with the series that has cool archival footage of Man o' War in action!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bio of "The Mostest Hoss", August 25, 2000
By Susan Nunes (Reno, NV United States) - See all my reviews
This book is the first in a series of biographies of famous racehorses published by BLOOD HORSE magazine. This first volume, on Man O' War, is excellent. Bowen discusses not only Man O' War's life and career, he also discusses Big Red's pedigree and the backgrounds of his connections such as owner Sam Riddle, breeder August Belmont II, and trainer Louis Feustel.

This book, like the others in the series, is small in size but big in content. I was so impressed with this book that I plan to buy all the rest of the books in the series. If you're a racing fan, you will also want this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Legend of Racing, May 13, 2001
By Deborah F. Brown "DeB" (Nesbit, Mississippi USA) - See all my reviews
While I am only a novice racing fan, I find that this horse, Man O War is the measure by which all others are compared. The facts and details were at times over my head due to my lack of over all knowledge about the owner/breeder racing system. I found the book interesting and was inspired to even visit the grave of this king of horses when in Ky this year.
