Product Description

Smoothies! The Original Smoothie Book: Recipes From the Pros is the first book in The Original Series trilogy, by Dan Titus.

This book begins with a history of the whimsical juice and smoothie industry, and defines the word smoothie from its early uses to its use today as a delectable drink. For example, the first reference to the words smoothie, smoothy, or smoothee was in the early 1930s and were used to sell bras and girdles! The book contains more than 80 professionally-developed smoothie recipes from companies like: Crazy Carrot, Robeks Juice, Jamba Juice, Planet Smoothie, Juice Stop, Juice It Up!, and Smoothie King. There is also a section where readers can record their own smoothie recipes and/or make notes for future reference. The goal for this book is to educate the readers about the history of smoothies, and how to make the best tasting smoothies in the world right in the comfort of their own kitchen.

From the Author

Why a book about smoothies?

Juicing books currently on the market do not provide "professional" smoothie recipes nor, do they provide a historical view of the "smoothie". They word smoothie can mean anything. The book contains a smoothie ranking system (see Chapter 2) that defines and ranks the different kinds of smoothies.

The juice/smoothie industry is growing at a steady rate. Smoothies aren’t a fad; they are solid trend. The juice and smoothie industry addresses consumers need for alternatives to fast food and is driven by customer demand for healthier meal alternatives. What is the staying power of smoothies and fresh squeezed juice?

Most cultures of the world recognize the virtues of juice. Therefore, the juice/smoothie concept has international appeal. The products sold have customer appeal and satisfy the need for a healthier alternative to conventional fast food. The products appeal to a large demographic span: From children to grandparents. The smoothie can positioned as a: Meal replacement, meal enhancement or a dessert. In simple terms, the juice/smoothie business is fun!

Healthy regards,

Dan "The Smoothieman" Titus

5.0 out of 5 stars Tried Them All, March 21, 2000
By Erica Small (Trenton, NJ) - See all my reviews
Hi my name is Trevor. I am a smoothie fanatic! I bet I have every smoothie book ever written in my collection. But, NONE compare to, Smoothies! The Original Smoothie Book - Recipes From the Pro's, by Dan Titus.

If you are looking for REAL smoothie recipes that are the kind made in REAL juice bars, I highly recommend this book. Mr. Titus not only includes industry recipes, he also includes a history of the juice and smoothie business.

Dan Titus, thank you for writing such a work of art!
