From Publishers Weekly
Seeking refuge from his headstrong mother, who is hell-bent on marrying him off, 34-year-old former FBI agent Luke Grayson retreats to the solitude of his New Mexico mountain cabin, only to discover the presence of a beautiful, gun-toting visitor. Having earlier been offered the cabin by Grayson's cousin to recover from an assault and to prepare for her Santa Fe speaking engagements, Dr. Catherine Stewart, bestselling author and a professor of child psychology, is unable to hide her irritation with--or attraction to--the handsome, unwelcome stranger. Noticing something amiss in Stewart's behavior, Grayson extracts the information that she's being stalked and offers his services as a private investigator. Ray (Break Every Rule) finds common ground for the pair to develop a loving relationship in their dedication to helping others (together they adopt a wolf hybrid and care for a homeless mother and child) and highlights Grayson's dual African- and Native-American heritage through his commitment to family. From Library Journal
Seeking respite from his matchmaking mother, Luke Grayson, successful private investigator and owner of his own firm, heads for his isolated cabin in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and suddenly finds himself looking down the barrel of a .380 held by a beautiful, leggy woman with a definite no-nonsense attitude. Although this is hardly an auspicious beginning, UCLA professor and child psychologist Catherine Stewart and Luke find themselves attracted to each other. But Catherine is hiding a secret that could keep them apart forever, and it isn't until she sees things realistically that she and Luke can find the happiness they both want. Her crisp style, realistic dialog, likable characters and fast pace make Ray (Break Every Rule) one of the better, more popular writers in the Arabesque line. She lives in Texas.
