Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The first station wagons were built to carry rail passengers and their luggage to and from the station and were called "Depot Hacks." By the 1950s station wagons had become a common feature of suburban living.

From the Model T to the Pinto Cruising Wagon, this book chronicles Ford's entrees in this field. Included is a model history for each year with available options, production figures and more. A must have for all Ford Station Wagon fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars A book for Ford Wagon Lovers., December 28, 2003
By Peter McDonald (Penetanguishene, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
I grew up in a household with Ford Wagons (notably a 69 and 74). I learned to drive on a 74 Country Squire that was more than once likened to the Starship Enterprise for it's sheer size. For that reason and the fact that I currently drive a 2000 Ford Focus Wagon I was extremely interested in this book. This is the first Iconographix book that I have purchased. I was little disappointed that there were no colour pictures. I also felt the years 1929 to 1936 were not covered well as far as pictures of stock Model A and 32 to 36 wagons. I was also surprised that a book published in 2003 would end it's history with the 91 models. From 1991 until now there has only been a handful of Escort and Taurus restyles as well as the new Focus wagons to cover. I wonder if this was a space issue?
On the upside I enjoyed the fact that the book covers some of the advertisements promoting Ford Wagons and shows some of the promotional models and model kits available through the years. It is neat to see some of the abandoned wagons and custom wagons that the author has found in his travels.
Overall I am quite happy to have this book on Ford Wagons. Where else are you going to find information on this topic? Besides my few little complaints it is quite a worthwhile book on the subject.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not enough for the money, April 8, 2009
I am a big fan of Ford wagons. My Dad owned two Country Squires that were very classy. While this book covers 1929 to 1950 very thoughly, it starts to skimp on information after that till it is nothing more then a few pictures and some quick notes about the models sold in a model year (from about 1975 -1991). While the models didn't change alot in those years, options/colors/interiors did. That type of information would be nice to have.

I mistakely thought this was going to be a 9in x 11in book but it is just a 5in x 7 in approimately. Considering it cost $22.00, I think this is way over priced for the contents. Also it would have been nice if a 2nd edition had been printed updating the information to 2001 or somewhere around there.

Overall, if you could get the book for around $10.00 it might be nice to have, but I won't pay anymore then that for it.
