From Booklist
Gr. 3-7. This splashy guide, crammed with photos of fashionably dressed crafters (including two boys), shows how "drawing with yarn" can add a funky personal touch to decor, clothes, and accessories. Nicholas opens with sample stitches on plastic mesh, then introduces more advanced, freestyle techniques; her own watercolor-and-ink diagrams make mastering even the whimsical "lazy daisy" a snap. Skill explanations are followed by a sophisticated-looking project, such as an attractive throw pillow. Patterns for enlarging conclude, but stitchers are also encouraged to design their own motifs. Nicholas' relies a lot on awkward cross-referencing, but that's a small inconvenience when weighed against the potential for fun.
