5.0 out of 5 stars MUST Have for ultrasound student, October 24, 2004
By HmWrk Central "Sarah" (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This book will make imaging clear to you! The pictures are great, the keys are great, and the positioning is very clear. I am a first year first semester u/s student and I UNDERSTAND my images now that I have this book. It includes longitudinal & transverse cross sections. A MUST have book and will be great to keep in your pocket as a reference when you start scanning.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most helpful books for a junior radiology resident, March 20, 2006
By Eagle Vision (Southeastern United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
The challenges that a person faces as a junior radiology resident can be intimidating. This book will be beneficial to a budding sonographer earlier in the educational process, also. Ultrasound is a skill that has a high learning curve but this book truly levels the playing field. Organized by Organs and vascular structures, this book is an essential book in your library.

Transducer placement and corresponding sonographic anatomy is outlined in a clear and concise format. Vascular anatomy is well illustrated. The quality of images is excellent and is cross referenced with a schematic image.

My major criticism is outlining the keys to anatomy at the start of the chapter, as opposed to being key on its respective page. However, this does not detract from this books utility.

I highly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Confusing & inaccurate key, February 3, 2007
By Debbie Parker (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am totally disappointed in the purchase of this book. I needed a guide to help me with anatomy & location of landmarks while scanning. I come from a nonmedical background so have been playing catch-up to the other students in my ultrasound program. The book is confusing with no guide to tell you how to use it. The key to the scans for the identity of specific parts/organs should be on the same page--not in some distant location where you have to keep flipping back & forth everytime you need to identify something. But, worst of all, is that the information given is incorrect.
Yes, the actual US images are good--but since they are mislabeled, it is confusing & hurts the sonographer instead of educating them. I went to several sonographers, as well as the head of my program, & asked them to look at the book. I doubted myself when I saw mislabeled areas in the key for the scans. The incorrect labeling is present throughout the book. Everyone confirmed that the key was grossly inaccurate &, even it that hadn't been the case, was very hard to follow because of where the editor chose to put the key & with no instructions on how to use it.
For a student on an extremely limited budget, this was a waste of money for me. No longer will I buy a book unless I can actually browse through it to see if the facts are correct. In order to get any use out of this book, I'll have to go to other textbooks & sonographers so I can hand label CORRECTLY the areas on the scans. The problem is, I was relying on this book to provide that information for me instead of vice versa!
