Review
Michael Jackson's second-worst nightmare has happened... -- Fox News

Product Description
‘Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask’ is the INSIDE STORY of the truth behind the rumors, ugliness and mystery surrounding Michael Jackson.

Is Jackson just a confused person who got too much fame too soon or is he a cold and calculating villain who will stop at nothing to have his bizarre appetites satisfied? Now you can read about it for the first time from the man who knows everything!

The author, Bob Jones, is not a journalist conducting interviews but somebody who has known and been with Jackson for 34 years as his chief of Public Relations; by his side since Michael was 11 years old. Bob Jones is the one person with this unique inside view of Michael Jackson’s world. To a certain degree, Bob Jones CREATED Michael Jackson. He created his image. For example, Bob Jones created Michael Jackson’s famous nickname "The King of Pop".

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, I Read It, November 3, 2005
By Mark Taibbi (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
I've had this book for some time and things kept coming up and I couldn't read it. Thankfully, I finally grabbed a minute and was astonished by the fact that I just couldn't put the book down. Michael Jackson is thoroughly exposed through the eyes of his former publicist and the impecable writing skills of author Stacy Brown (Blind Faith: The Miraculous Journey of Lula Hardaway and her son Stevie Wonder). Jones learned a great deal about being choosy in his tenure with Jackson, who is known to be very careful of whom he chooses for any project. Jones's choice, Stacy Brown, proved to be a great and lethal combination for Jackson in this expose'. Jones's relationship with Jackson is well documented as is his co-author's relationship with Jackson's family. Brown still speaks highly of members of the Jackson family and readily admits to never having any relationship with Michael Jackson. He steers clear of allowing his thoughts to add and detract value from this valueless piece (he does, apparently to add clarification to some of Jones's recollections, refer to some of his encounters with the Jackson family but not in a distasteful way). From the beginning when Jones is fired to the very end when Jones's emotions appear to take over when testifying against his former boss, the book is stunning in its candor and refreshing in its innocence.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's TABLOID TRASH between the covers... !, July 18, 2005

Well, this book is all very interesting EXCEPT.... NONE of it is true!!

As an example, read these snippets from the court testimony of authors Jones and Brown, as they squirm UNDER OATH!

Cross-examination of BOB JONES (April 11 2005)

......

25 Q. And then you were asked, "Um, did you see
26 Mr. Jackson engage in any head licking of anybody?"
27 And your answer was, "Never." Remember that?
28 A. I recall.

.......

3 Q. And you told the prosecutor you had written
4 the words at the bottom of the page that refer to
5 licking, right?
6 A. Uh-huh.
7 Q. And is it your testimony that you have not
8 approved the accuracy of that statement?
9 A. That is correct.

..........

4 Q. And would you agree when you're working with
5 a co-writer and a publisher to prepare a book about
6 Michael Jackson, there's pressure to make things
7 sensational when you can, right?
8 A. Yes.
9 Q. And your publisher and others want a book
10 that can sell, correct?
11 A. My co-writer [STACEY BROWN]. The publisher wasn't involved
12 in that particular end of it.

............

13 Q. Okay. And do you then typically correct or
14 change what you think is either inaccurate or
15 inappropriate?
16 A. Oh, I've changed millions of things that
17 were inaccurate that I didn't say

...........

8 RECROSS-EXAMINATION [of STACEY BROWN]
9 BY MR. MESEREAU:
10 Q. Mr. Brown, what I think the prosecutor just
11 elicited is the following: When he[BOB JONES] was broke, he
12 said there was licking. And when he didn't have
13 financial problems, he said there wasn't any, right?
14 A. Well, if that's how you --
15 Q. Right?
16 A. -- break it down, yeah, I guess.
17 MR. MESEREAU: Thank you.
18 MR. AUCHINCLOSS: No further questions.

This says it ALL folks! This unholy pair can't get even the SIMPLE stuff down right!

5.0 out of 5 stars Haters Will Always Hate The Truth, November 3, 2005
By Jeannette Walls (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
Well written, well thought out. This is finally the true story into the wacky world of Michael Jackson. The authors did a fantastic job of putting together a group of short stories in making such a masterpiece. I have always thought J. Randy Taraborelli was THE SOURCE on Michael Jackson, but Bob Jones with the help of excellent journalist Stacy Brown, delivers a powerful and insightful view on the former King of Pop.
