Product Description

How important is winning, and does it really matter how we win? What do you think determines a person's "worth" -- how much money he or she has? Can you have lots of friends and still be lonely? When other people are telling you what to do, how do you decide what is right for you?

In this sequel to her popular first book, IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?, psychologist Sandra McLeod Humphrey encourages parents and teachers to talk to children about values and to help them formulate their own personal value system in the face of peer pressure, even when following their own conscience means going it alone. Children can easily identify with the twenty-six scenarios presented, and the questions at the end of each chapter encourage productive, in-depth discussions about the moral choices suggested by each story. Kids will enjoy reading through each short situation and then deciding what they would do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Highly Recommended for Teachers and Parents Alike - American Author's Association Review, February 7, 2008
By Karl L. Kruger (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Carrying on with her series on ethics and behavior, Humphrey presents the reader with twenty-six more scenarios that address problematic issues in a child's life. The author, as in the other books in the series, follows each "parable" with a number of questions that are designed to promote discussion and problem resolution. In this offering, however, Humphrey also lists in the Table of Contents the specific issue addressed in each parable (e.g. Fair Play, Empathy, Attitude, Adapting to Change). This addition makes this book an invaluable tool for a teacher or parent who needs help addressing a specific behavioral or ethical topic. Most highly recommended for any teacher, parent, or grandparent interested in pursuing lively discussions regarding ethics and behavior with children.

Karl L. Kruger for the American Author's Association
