Product Description

With each breath, you take in approximately one million of the same atoms once breathed by Jesus, the Buddha, and everyone else who ever lived. This is why, teaches Dennis Lewis, breathing is much more than a personal activity. On Natural Breathing, Lewis shows you how to find "the world in your body" - through a new awareness that begins with your next breath. This extraordinary journey of discovery begins with your own diaphragm (the "spiritual muscle") and guides you through transformative "self-sensing" exercises that bring you face to face with the miraculous energies of life itself. Dennis Lewis began his search for the breath of life when doctors couldn't cure his chronic stress and pain. In his struggle to heal himself, Lewis acquired a deep, first-hand knowledge of breathing, its mechanics, and its impact on our lives. Natural Breathing distills the essence of this lifework, leading you step by step through your own authentic breath. Richly interlaced with meditations and exercises, this one-of-a-kind presentation will leave you breathing - and living - more fully than you ever thought possible. Previously released as Breathing as a Metaphor for Living.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Audio Program on Natural Breathing Available, April 13, 2005
I highly recommend this three-CD audio program by Dennis Lewis for anyone interested in deepening her or his understanding of breathing and learning how to breathe in a more complete and natural way, which I believe is very important for our physical, emotional, and spiritual health and well-being. Though a lot of the material on these CDs can also be found in his book "The Tao of Natural Breathing," there is something wonderful about actually hearing this information in the author's own voice, which is both vibrant and deeply relaxing. I've taken several workshops with the author, and this audio production from Sounds True gives a helpful sense of his presence. What's more, there are some great practices and meditations that are not included in "The Tao of Natural Breathing."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Wonderful Experience, November 9, 2007
By James G. Snyder "taiji dreamer" (Albuquerque, NM USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a superb three CD set of instructions for improving your breathing. The author and narrator has apparently given these instructions in workshops for 15 years and this shows in the clarity and succinctness of his presentations. I have never taken one of his workshops though I would if he offered one in my home state. Lacking that I think that these CD's are the next best thing, and in all probability if I attended one of his workshops I would probably purchase these CD anyway. The reason for the above claim is that these CDs contain two types of information.

The lecture material that Dennis Lewis presents contains insights and advice about normal and optimal patterns of breathing. If you are embarking on a long term program to improve you breathing, you will want to become very familiar with the various topics covered in his lecture. Watching you breathing patterns as they relate to you life experiences is an extended project. You may begin by watching the most gross aspects of you breath, then after months of this habit, review this instruction and work on increasingly subtle aspects of a fully conscious breathing.

The second type of material on these CDs are guided exercises that can help you focus consciously on your breath. These mediations are delivered with the skill of a narrator that knows how to guide a meditation, alternating with suggestions and pauses to implement them. These are regular enough to keep your mind on task, while being sufficiently unobtrusive to allow you own mental processes to operate.

Superior work that you will enjoy for years, if you follow the instructions they can improve the quality of your life. What more can you ask of three plastic disks?
