From Booklist

Cal McDonald, star of a graphic-novel series by Niles, is a detective who takes only cases involving demons, revenants, fiends, and so forth. His sidekick, Mo'lock, is an inexplicably benign ghoul who looks like Frankenstein's monster with, as Jones draws him, hints of Sinatra. After dispatching a murderous mummy and fending off an angry gal pal, Cal gets his new case when the Clampetts call, towing a possessed teen. But the hillbillies are really demons, and there's a huge row before they're put down, leaving the depossessed teen fessing up to having read aloud an incantation he found in an old book--dumb, dumb, dumb. Now a whole town is infested. Niles burlesques hard-boiled dialogue relentlessly while Jones' hyperactive color art helps him pump up horror-movie visual cliches to the heights of Evil Dead-like excess. The results are over-the-top funnier than a Jim Carrey vehicle, Ghostbusters, and Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy rolled into one. Ray Olson

Product Description

Supernatural private eye Cal McDonald thinks he's seen it all, at least until a couple of rampaging rednecks bust through his door hootin' about demonic possessions. Thus begins Cal's most spine-chilling (and side-splitting) case yet, as these Beverly Hellbillies take him down a trail of terror into the heart of a Southern California backwater brimming with monsters and mullets. Can Cal and his living-dead partner Mo'Lock save an entire town from the nastiest spirit this side of the river Styx? Will Cal's girlfriend Sabrina forgive him for forgetting Valentine's Day before they're overcome by a demonic horde? And just how did little Billy Ray end up with a portal to Hell in his bedroom? All will be revealed in this collection courtesy of uber-scribe Steve Niles and fantastically frightful art-meister Kelley Jones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Graphic SF Reader, September 3, 2007
Cal and Mo start off with taking out a mummy in a museum, breaking a few things in a process.

When a dumb kid's parents bring him to Cal for help, he thinks he has solved the problem with a few minor demons, although not the forgetting Valentine's day girlfriend problem.

That wasn't all, though, a rather nasty succubus is still around.
