Competitions are listed alphabetically, and the uncluttered format makes it easy to find critical information, such as eligibility, important dates, judging criteria, and awards. Competitions range from the Donna Reed Festival for the Performing Arts to the Kids Philosophy Slam (open to grades K-12) to the Young Naturalist Awards, and children older and younger than the suggested age group will find plenty of relevant material. An introduction offers advice on the benefits of entering competitions and how to select competitions, and one small section provides templates for a competition journal, including time-management tips, competition goals, and lessons learned.
