After Holly's father dies, she's taken in by her fashion model sister, Bianca, who is married to Stephen Detloff, a sinisterly gorgeous and charismatic astrologer to entertainment stars. Holly soon meets Kyle Pries, her brother-in-law's publisher, and Russ Graham, a gun-toting artist who may have been having an affair with Kyle's wife before she became a victim of the "Butcher Knife" serial killer, who is due to make another killing at any time. Both men are potential love interests and both have a "Scorpio" connection that may portend disaster for Holly. The time period is not obvious but the technology that plays a major role in the plot shows that it is clearly not the twentieth century. While the serial killer and motives are fairly transparent, readers who love to watch Lifetime Channel movies, in which a woman triumphs over evil in the end, will enjoy Coulson's mystery, which is also a good bet for readers who prefer books light on sexual details.
