Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Tori Hunter always worked solo, but in Samantha Kennedy she found a partner, in more ways than one. Casey O'Connor isn't thrilled to learn that she has a new partner on the way. It's been hard enough to transition from working with live victims to dead ones. Now Leslie Turner is going to slow down the process.

Professional duty trumps personal issues as the detectives focus on their latest case, a killer whose choice of victim is solitary women. The investigation raises a lot of questions around the killer's means and opportunities. Leslie would be happy if the questions stopped there, but she's also wondering why she'd rather spend time with these women--specifically Casey--than with her fiance.

Casey would also like to stick to business, but as the case intensifies she finds herself also watching Tori and Sam and wondering how they balance their public personas and private passions. Figuring it out is a pointless exercise, she tells herself, because that kind of lightning can't possibly strike twice.

Partners concludes the series that began with the chart-topping bestseller Hunter's Way, and continued with the Lambda Literary and Golden Crown finalist In the Name of the Father -- with the sizzling intensity that only Gerri Hill can deliver.

2.0 out of 5 stars more of the same & a boring mystery, January 2, 2009
the romance is this book is according to a pattern which readers of gerri hill have by now come to be familiar with. they start out as friends, cannot help but fall in love, try to deny it first but cannot help the gravity of their feelings. been there, read that. as if in compensation, the love scenes are quite hot.
what really killed me was the mystery, however. it was just boring, boring, boring. and to end the book with a cliff-hanger, that seemed to be quite lazy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hunter's Way with different characters, February 3, 2009
By Sarah (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
Many people have given this book a bad review because they feel that it's basically Hunter's Way but with two new characters, however aren't most of her novels like this? Like one reviewer basically stated, two women meet (usually one out and the other either in the closet or questions their sexuality once meeting the other woman). Both are unable to be together for one reason or another but in the end things work out in their favor. The only difference are the events leading up to the ending. Either way Gerri Hill is one of my favorite authors even though everyone knows how her novels will end (at least when it comes to the love story.

That being said, this novel wasnt as good as Hunter's Way but was still a good read. The ending, that some people are complaining about, is a bit upsetting however Gerri Hill has posted something on her website in response to some people's questions. [...]

3.0 out of 5 stars very good until the last two pages, January 22, 2009
wow, first i read partners by gerri hill since some of the reviews seem to be for a different book? Anyway, good development of the relationship between casey and leslie. it was pretty much like what happened with tori and sam so i felt that the odds of that same thing happening twice in one small circle was a little hard to believe. but letting that go the romance in the story was good. and I was satisfied - even with the unresolved bits of the mystery - until the last page.
i really can't believe it ended that way. i think if i knew that -not the romance - but an important story element would be left that hanging i might not have started reading. now i am just feeling unresolved.
i loved the first two in the series, and most everything but Hill... so this was disappointing.
