Product Description
A man's been killed! I think it might be David! Gil Rodrigues is a Vietnam vet, widower, and world-weary private eye. His life is in the doldrums. Even his affair with a beautiful young woman adds few sparks to his mundane routine. However, the sudden murder of his best friend David Chang, and the plight of David's daughter jump-start him into action. Gil soon uncovers unseemly details about his friend's business affairs and lurches into an investigation involving professional hit men, international espionage and a series of clues, each one more bizarre and puzzling than the last. As Gil closes in on the killer, he quickly finds that his career, his lover and his life are in jeopardy. He is inexorably forced to pull all the stops, solve the mystery and find the killer . but he exacts a diabolical revenge for all the bother! ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Virgil Jose is a UCLA graduate who has been writing since high school. He has worked in corporate communications, public relations and as a freelance journalist. 5.0 out of 5 stars Sure, Non-Stop Entertainment, February 8, 2008
Gil is destined to be a well-known sleuth. This book, in spite of his quiet title, is a goer. It doesn't start off great with the first chapter as mysteries are supposed to do. It starts off great with the second sentence and moves swiftly from there. I'm generally not much of a mystery fan, but Virgil Jose made a believer of me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thrillride!, February 5, 2008
By Max Katzenbaum (Fullerton, CA) - See all my reviews
Virgil Jose's first effort is a fast-paced thrillride that delivers. His characters have depth and the storyline is intriguing with lots of twists and surprises. The suspense builds to an ending that "wows" and satisfies. I'm looking forward to the next installment from Jose's creative mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Find, February 12, 2008
By Bert Rush (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
This book is a real find. It's a mystery, yes, but with lots of smarts and wonderful irony. The story is nicely plotted, moves briskly, and delivers an ending that calls to mind stories of Cornell Woolrich and James M. Cain. Highly recommended.
