Product Description
The novel "Embrace of the Sun: In Shadows" is the first installment in a series of nine, created by Christian author, musician, and composer, Daimon Price. It is a rare take on the vampire legend, told with a religious and spiritual perspective.

Deanna, an orphan from the deadly plagues, is now under the care of her Uncle in the great Township of Manning, England. Only days after the death of Savarus Tate, the region's finest hunter and warrior, a horde of foreign invaders disrupts the peaceful existence in Manning. Deanna is captured in their wake, but secretly rescued by a mysterious dark being and his forest companions. In her quest to discover his true identity, she learns of Manning's tragic past, and of the looming darkness that may once again overpower the church and its congregation.

The novel "Embrace of the Sun: In Shadows" is the first installment in a series of nine, created by Christian author, musician, and composer, Daimon Price. It is a rare take on the vampire legend, told with a religious and spiritual perspective.

After the death of its greatest hunter and warrior Savarus Tate, the citizens of Manning, England soon finds themselves at the mercy of a horde of foreign invaders. Though repelled by the powerful defense unit, the invaders manage to capture some females, including one named Deanna, the niece of the Township's most popular blacksmith. However, fate sends her a mysterious angel who, along with his forest companions, manages to secretly rescue her. Upon her return home, she yearns to recommit herself to God and answer the lingering questions surrounding her rescue. In the process, she begins to uncover the tragic days of Manning's past, as well as the conflicts that resounded between the Hunter and the High Order of the church. The closer she becomes, Dimitri, the servant of the deceased Hunter, desperately tries to divert her from discovering his families secrets, the very secrets that would bring Deanna face to face with the dark being truly responsible for her rescue. By the time Deanna finds her answers, the church has already begun to prepare its congregation for the darkness it believes looms near.

"Embrace of the Sun: In Shadows" has been the passion of its writer Daimon Price for over nine years. The concept initially began after Daimon accepted Christ in 1995 and became Born-Again. Being a huge fan of vampire novels and films, he believed the stories had lacked one important ingredient. The conflict between the heart and soul of an immortal being now separated from the Holy Spirit of Christ. It was his vision to create a story that revolved around the spiritual dilemma such a being would face, rather than the need for blood and violence. Though such aspects find their way into the story, they are not the focus.

When asked about the first novel in his series, Daimon explains, "Its kind of like a TV pilot. There is a large cast, and I think it is important to get to know them before we go on this long journey. I feel character development is crucial in telling a story such as this. That is why I tend to use a lot of dialogue. Nothing describes a character better than how they interact with other characters."

In addition to the novel, Daimon has also composed a companion soundtrack that includes songs, poetry, and new age soundscapes to help the reader better absorb the mood of the story. "I think I will always feel like a musician first, because that is what I have been doing since I was 6. I always loved taking my favorite books and composing music for them. It just seemed natural to do the same for my own novels. I love the merge of gothic and new age, especially the music of the Cure. Most of my writing has been greatly inspired by their music, and that becomes more apparent in my compositions. I think Robert Smith is a genius, and the musicians who surround him are truly gifted."

When asked why it has taken so long for him to complete the first book in the series, Daimon replies, "Mostly because of the schedule I live with. Working two full time jobs as a teacher and a counselor, finishing grad school and being a husband and father of two children, limits time for creative ventures. However, the stories are outlined now, and the next two books in the series have already been started. I feel confident the next installment should be ready by February 2005."

In the meantime, Daimon looks forward to the release of "Embrace of the Sun: In Shadows", and its soundtrack. The story is important to him, not only in a spiritual sense, but also in a romantic one. "It is my love letter to my wife, who has been so supportive in everything I do. She is my ultimate inspiration, and I thank God for her and my children every day of my life."

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!, February 25, 2005

This is a masterpiece in writing and imagination. Daimon Price has accomplished something that I would think to be an impossibility. He has created a story that brings Christianity and Vampires together in a way that does not offend either of the two religions. With 7 more books to follow, I can hardly wait for the next one!

Mr. Price has also written and produced a CD soundtrack that comes with the book to add a "mood" for the reader. I listened to the soundtrack as I read the book and it definitely put me in the "mood".

A talented author and musician indeed! I highly recommend this book to anyone who reads any type of fantasy or mystery novels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Entertaining, January 12, 2005
Although I am new to this genre, I was entriqued by the premise of this novel. I went in, expecting another Anne Rice clone, and was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Much detail and time was obviously devoted to the background and religious respect which the author shows throughtout all of the page-turning chapters. I highly recommend this as an addition to your personal library. Can't wait for the next one... keep up the good work.
