Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

The 2008 campaign began as a repudiation of Republicans for big spending, corruption, and their failure to manage competently challenges like Hurricane Katrina, border security, and the war in Iraq. It ended with the election of the most radical president in American history. The Obama-Pelosi-Reid team is the most radical group ever to hold the reigns of American power. Its vision of a high-tax, bureaucratic, Washington-centered system dominated by politicians and leading to a secular-socialist future will fundamentally challenge America's role as a beacon of hope, opportunity, and freedom. ...We are once again in a time when we need "bold colors, not pale pastels," as Reagan argued back in 1975. Indeed, the problems are so fundamental we need a new argument about the very nature of political reality and the very nature of danger in the world.
--From the new introduction

About the Author

Newt Gingrich was the chief architect of the Contract with America. A former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Gingrich is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, a FOX News political analyst, founder of the Center for Health Transformation, and general chairman of American Solutions for Winning the Future. He resides in Virginia with his wife, Callista, and has two daughters and two grandchildren.

Vince Haley is vice president for research and policy at American Solutions for Winning the Future, associate producer of the film Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny, and wrote with Newt Gingrich the New York Times bestseller Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less: A Handbook for Solving the Energy Crisis. Vince and his wife live in Virginia.

Rick Tyler is founding director for Renewing American Leadership, a faith-based organization dedicated to defending and advancing American civilization. A spokesperson for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Rick also serves on the board of the American Leadership Academy and has lectured at both the Institute for Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and the Robert J. Dole Institute for Politics at the University of Kansas. He lives in Virginia with his wife and their daughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful, intelligent, and well written, July 8, 2009
By M. P. Williams (Clemmons, NC United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is one of the best books written that documents, counters, and lays out a clear path to true, innovative and intelligent democracy in clear contrast to the Obama business-as-usual liberal democrat Washington partisan cronies. Clearly "Democrat" has nothing to do with "democracy". Jefferson would vomit in his grave if he saw what his Democrat-Republican party had become. We gave the Dems one more chance after 16 years of innovative, intelligent conservative management and they have failed within only 6 months of office and have caused half a century of damage in that time in an attempted power grab with OUR money, (3 billion to ACORN, et. al.)...well I guess we misjudged their self-indulgence, their self-interest, and their selfish, egocentric form of national management. Dems do not serve their constiuencies, they clearly serve themselves. Out with the liberal Dems, (once again). We the people will overcome as our founders intended. Modern Dems are truly septic monsters, (Barney Frank, Obama, Nancy Pelosi, etc. etc. etc).

5.0 out of 5 stars Real change is what I want., August 12, 2009
By Patricia T. Riblet (Chiang Mai, Thailand) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have read many books recently about the US government which have horrified and depressed me. Horrified because I knew that they were factual and heavilly documented. Depressed me because they offered nothing positive as alternative suggestions. Mr. Gingrich, while he points out negative facts does not leave the reader high, dry and hopeless. He has a positive plan that gives hope to the average citizen, like me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward for this country?, August 31, 2009
This book gives a completely positive take on what we need to do as a country, without getting deluded by a myriad of "druthers". And we better get on the stick and start listening to Mr. Gingrich, probably the finest architect of what Republicans should be about.
