Review

"A lively first novel. Highly recommended." -- Library Journal, March 1, 2008

I stand in awe of Charlie Lovett's powers to draw stories out of the air....What talent! -- Jennifer Portnick, Fitness Trainer

Product Description

A new weight-loss clinic in New York City has an offer for you -- give then $5,000 and they'll make you as thin as a supermodel. You can eat whatever you want and you'll never gain an ounce. Tempted? Fledging journalist Karen Sumner would be -- if only she had $5,000.

When Karen finally walks through the blue and gold doors of The Program, though, she's on the trail of the hottest story of her career. If she and her friends are right, The Program is doing something even worse than creating an army of unnaturally thin women. Will they be able to stop The Program before it's too late?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For All Women!, June 13, 2008
Brilliant! I recommend The Program to every woman who feels insecure about her body because she thinks she weighs too much. In fact, I recommend The Program to every woman! Charlie Lovett has managed to weave romance, intrigue, suspense and mystery into this story while clearly depicting the insecurities of women who don't like their bodies and how far they will go to become what they think (or society tells them) is the "perfect woman."

This book kept me intrigued until I finished it!

It's almost scary how this author managed to get inside women's heads like he did with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Combination, August 16, 2008
Loved this book. Couldn't put it down once I started. I initially enjoyed it because of the premise - the idea you could go someplace and get thin instantly. Upon further reading, the intricate story is revealed. I wasn't disappointed with the ending which I was worried would be weak. Highly recommend!

1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable, August 24, 2008
By S. Gardner (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is awful. Evidently the publisher wants to shore up the psyche of obese women who are subject to society's infatuation with the thin ideal. So we have obvously overweight heroines combined with the "bad guy"
THE DEVIL (really!?!)
My first problem...no where in the story is a point made about health. Why not have as heroines women who are not 88lb but not 300 either!!
Second....the Devil is the villain. And one of his antagonists is an Episcopal priest. And people sleep with one another all over the place.
Very strange premise. Very strange book. Skip it.
