Book Description
Your Personal Math Tutor is a self-help high school math book that covers algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus and SAT preparation all in one book that can be used year after year. Although it does not present everything (that would be intimidating), it is explained so that the student (and parents) can understand the material because it is written in simple language as explained by an engineer.
Even though it is a high school book, Mr. B. covers fractions and decimals in Chapter 1 because many students have either forgotten how to work with them or they never did learn them in the first place! Many of his "arithmetrix" are included to show how to avoid using the calculator all the time and to make math fun.
Your Personal Math Tutor is a supplement to a textbook. The text is larger making it easier to read. Problems are explained just as if Mr. B. were sitting next to you. He asks the reader questions that show how to arrive at the solution. His intent is to teach how to think. If you know why you have to do something, you'll understand it better. For example, why is 7 to the zero power equal to 1? There are no cartoons but many graphs.
